Adrenaline Whooper of a Lifetime
By: Roy Dollwet, RA
I did it! One of the super high adventures of my life! I
joined and finished the 2013 Lavaman Waikoloa Triathlon with great
fanfare! Well, at least the “swim leg”
of the triathlon – swimming being the sport I fancy and indulge in.
It’s no mean feat! To swim 1500 meters (0.9 miles) starting
from the beach waist deep – straight out to the ocean encountering up to 65 ft.
depths, against ocean currents/waves, even marine-life obstacles such us corals
and sea urchins, ranged against – 1076 equally motivated/male/female
competitors – was reason enough for breast-breathing. And bragging rights!
There it was: flashed on the finishers’ screen:
Place : 362 Time: 33:02
Not bad at all for a fiftyish, real estate man!
My adrenaline whooper of a lifetime…..
